Competence fields
Thermosensorik GmbH was one of the first companies to make focal-plane-array infrared cameras for civil applications in research and industry. Today, Thermosensorik GmbH camera systems are pushing the limits of what is technically feasible for resolution and sensitivity in the millikelvin and micrometer range. Our products satisfy the highest demands - be it in active and passive IR imaging, lock-in or pulse thermography.
Thermosensorik GmbH was also a pioneer in the development of imaging heat flow analysis for non-destructive material and component testing. Imaging heat flow analysis measures the internal 3D propagation of heat in the material. This is done using high relative temperature resolution and high image refresh rates. If the material has faults or defects that interrupt the heat flow, they are localized and characterized in the image.
Within the ranks of established technologies for non-destructive testing such as visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, x-ray methods, eddy current testing, dye penetrant testing or magnetic particle testing, imaging heat flow analysis offers a unique combination of characteristics:
- It is fast and contact-free. And yet it can still "look inside" the material.
- It is non-destructive. This avoids the material and labour costs incurred using
destructive test procedures and enables the same products to be tested in
various production stages.
- It can be reliably automated and can thus eliminate the "human factor".
- It provides digital raw data and, with the help of image processing technology, delivers
information that is user independent, objective and repeatable - and all this in real time.
- The statistical information it generates from 100% testing helps to optimize production
processes.
These characteristics make heat flow analysis a technologically and economically attractive alternative for many aspects of industrial quality assurance.
